Snap Cover vs Mooring Cover on CS23

Post by Anesslet »

Hi all, we’ve had our 2021 CS23 for just over a year now. Overall has been great. One issue has been the snap on cover. The day we took the boat home brand new the cover came loose on the interstate and almost blew completely off. Needless to say it was not ideal. Many of the snaps ripped off, etc. They claim it’s fixed but I still don’t feel confident in it. The cover on our 2005 Larson was a much more snug fit.

I’m debating getting the mooring cover and wondering your thoughts. We do not have a tower and for the most part do not have the Bimini on the boat. We keep it on a lift with a canopy so the main purpose is to keep it covered when we’re not at our lake place. Would the mooring be better than the snap cover for that purpose?

Also, can the mooring cover be used for travel?

Thanks!
Andy

That is incorrect. It states right in our OP manual that the tonneau cover is not designed for storage, but can be used for overnight storage or towing.

I have towed our CS23 all over the western half of Iowa and to Table Rock Lake twice. I found that you need to keep it very taut using your polls. We did have a seam let loose and it will be warrantied ... sometime..

So yes Anesslet, for your intended usage a mooring cover would be necessary.

We ordered our CS22 with the snap on covers and the mooring cover. Mooring cover is the best I've ever used. We tow the boat with the mooring cover no problem-rain, high winds, anything, no issues-barely flaps. I only use the snap on cover for overnights when we travel. We keep our boat on a lift in a covered slip on Lake Lanier and still always keep the mooring cover on her. Def. recommend.

Your problem with the snaps is exactly why I bought the mooring cover.
Plus, I don't have to be so detailed when I'm waxing the boat.
Plus, when I'm sitting in the bow using sides of the boat as an arm rest, surface is nice and smooth.
We leave our boat on an oversized, covered slip on a lift. With that and the mooring cover, the
inside of boat is really clean when we first open boat in May.

Krob worry about washing around snaps? Who uses paste wax anymore? 😂😂
Spray on wipe off!
I've only had snaps on any of my boats. Never lost one yet towing!
Thousands of miles towing. Yes mooring cover while on the ball or in the garage to keep the dust off,
