R30 cooler usage

I have a '22 R30 and love all aspects of the boat. One gripe I have is that the main cooler for drinks (located under a seat cushion behind the helm) does not have any shocks/ struts to hold it open (like the seats at on the other side). You have to hold it with your head or shoulder while making drinks, believe me I understand this really isn't a "problem" but a missed opportunity by Cobalt. Has anyone retro fitted gas shocks to the seat allowing it to stay open? Would love some ideas... Thanks all...
