For those with gauges instead of glass, where are you putting a chart plotter? I have a R3 (2104) and am considering putting something in front of the cubby to the right of the help but would like to know how others solved this.

Saw a poster on here who upgraded his dash to add a chart plotter. He also bought an engine module and the NMEA 2000 network and essentially used his chart plotter for speed and tach - the chart plotter was front and center and covered those two gauges.

Wow, that's amazing, I was hoping for a solution that was a little simpler and under a grand!

On my old boat, I used a RAM mount and mounted to the right side of my dash so it could be located so it wouldn't hide the existing gauges.

I don't have a pic right now, but can get one in a few days when I get home, but maybe I can describe-

First, I have an R3 with Gauges- I looked hard at putting a chart plotter where you are talking about-- It won't fit without cutting the metal or creating a new false front mounting plate. Second, it's a lousy location for actual use-

I ended up getting a small RAM mount and I mounted it to the driver side windshield upright--the RAM mount clamps to the post itself. It simply rests on top of the dash and the RAM mount holds it in place. No drilling or cutting and it hasn't moved in 3 years. It doesn't impede visibility and it doesn't force you to look down and it doesn't block any gauges. There is a ton of room on top of the R3 Dash to do this. It's very similiar to John's first link, but the RAM mount attaches to that windshield support vs where that link shows it screwed in. I think it was about $40.

I haven't really figured out a good way to run the cable, so I used 3M command wire clips and have it running along the bottem of the windshield.

It's worked well for now.
