I wanted to share a unique "bleach-less" solution to my Black Dots on Cobalt Interior.

Bleach-Less - made in Florida and it simply works with minimal, and I stress minimal effort.

Spray it on, wipe it around and let it set for 10-15 minutes. Then simply wipe down with water and rag.

Was 100% safe on carpets as I managed to overspray and slop on carpets and interior panels.

Yes I have a number of other cleaning products, this one is the first one that is, IMO "Amazing".

One 22oz did the interior of my 25SC, it comes out thick, spread it around with simple scrubbing and just let it sit.

On a few really stubborn places, I hit it a second time and the whole boat looks like it was professionally detailed.

Before/After Pictures are 3 weeks apart with a couple of rain storms, high humidity stored on lift with overhead canopy, no boat cover.

I've heard its good to set out dryer sheets and/or a moisture absorber of some sort during winter. Anyone do this and does it possibly prevent this mold from forming?

That's what we do and have never had a problem since doing that for the past 25 years,.. Before that our Donzi had mold that was a bear to clean after winter storage. We learned our lesson to use the above items during storage.

I use them every year! Not sure I count though my boat never leaves the garage though.

I've used many non-bleach based products. Last season we used a tablespoon of powder Tide and hot water. This solution lifted the black mildew right off the seats easier and faster than any expensive product I've ever used. Then wiped the seats down with clean warm water, dried and finished with 303 Protectant.
Knowing the risk of drying out the vinyl or damaging the stitching, I researched this method and didn't find anything that concerned me about using Tide.

I've always used dryer sheets for winter storage as well, but more to keep rodents / bugs out. I never knew it could also prevent mildew or mold spots.

Yep. Each seat gets one. The bench about 3. Each cushion in the cuddy get 1. That plus moisture collectors and propping the cushions to encourage air circulation have killed the dreaded winter accumulation of mold and mildew.

The best I've used is "Oxi Clean Total Interior." It comes with a little scrubby-thing on top. Spray on, wait a few minutes, scrub gently, wipe off -- then treat with "Mothers Protectant." Clean, shiny, soft.

OK, I know this thread is a bit old, but I have to chime in on praising the Mckee's Nautical One spray. When purchased, our Cobalt 255 cabin had MAJOR mold/mildew in the sleeping area, due to both anchor locker hoses leaking into the interior of the bow. The boat had been tarped, with the factory canvas under that, but I guess the hoses got water in them somehow and froze and cracked. The rest of the cabin had some mildew on the vinyl panels, but not black like the sleeping area. We had tried all kinds of products, and had sort of given up. I removed all of the interior pices and was going to tear out all of the offending vinyl and replace it. Meanwhile, I read a thread on The Hull Truth forum about mildew removal, and the Nautical One spray was highly recommended. Since the cabin was already apart, I figured why not, and sprayed the two worst vinyl areas on either side, and let it soak. I came back about 20 minutes later, prepared to scrub again, but the vinyl was white! There was a bit of streaking, so I sprayed again and simply wiped off the remaining streaks, and that was it! The cabin is now back together, and looks great. There are still some little touch up areas I need to get to, but the stuff just works. DO put towels, shop rags etc. over carpet, or anything cloth based. It will eat through cotton towels very quickly. And treat your vinyl after a thorough water rinse with 303, etc. This year, no more shame, the cabin door will be open at the Classic Cobalt and Harbor Regattas.
