Installed Trim Tabs on 2005 255

I recently installed trim tabs on my 255. The manufacturer I used was Lectrotab. They were very easy to get in touch with and very helpful.
Every time I called them a person answered the phone and help was immediate. I chose to use the Automatic Leveling Control they offer.
Wiring was straightforward. All of the system components seem to be very robust. One feature I did not realize they have is a pressure equalization
tube in the wire to the actuators. This is pretty smart, no vacuum or pressurization created in the actuator when they are moving (greatly reduces any chance of water getting in to the actuators).

I will let the forum know how well the Auto trim feature works. In talking to other people who have installed this system they are happy with it. Should be able to try it within a month.

You have a rear view picture that shows the entire stern including the tabs? Was their no option to mount them outboard more? Hard to tell...sometimes not many options.

Very nice installation. I’ve been wondering whether trim tabs would be useful on our 240. It would be nice to level out the boat without shuffling passengers. It would be even nicer to be able to get on plane at lower speeds.

Did you do the installation yourself? Difficulty level? Rough cost?

bruceb58, I installed them in the exact same position as the factory did. No other place to put them. The tabs are 12" long and 6" wide with a taper down to 4" wide on the engine side of tabs. I did the installation myself. After I installed them I did see on Great Lakes Skipper the factory tabs for sale.
https://www.greatlakesskipper.com/benne ... uators-kit It is a Hydraulic kit but you can still use the
Lectrotab keypad with it, very easy to upgrade to that. The tabs I installed are also the same size as the factory installed.
