if you find out who makes this gas cap, please let me know. I have been thinking about buying a backup. I've searched online and i cant figure out who made it.
You might have to call the dealer and find out or buy from them.

Since you just need the cap I'm betting this is the same brand, even though it doesn't tell you the brand. It has dimensions on it, hope it works!

Does your missing gas cap look like the picture below, and is more complicated on the underside than a “normal” boat gas cap? Do you, by any chance, have an EPA certified carbon canister installed on your fuel system?

I might have found what you’re looking for, but the price is high and I’m betting that you’ll have to buy the deck fill and cap as a unit instead of just the cap.

Hi aj,

Does your missing gas cap look like the one I posted above?

I think your gas deck fills are Attwood Low Profile Deck Fills meant for use with carbon canisters. Not sure if you have the straight version (Attwood #99DFCCLPSS1) or the angled version (Attwood #99DFCCLPAS1).

Do all of the newer boats have this crazy complicated gas cap? And do the newer boats have carbon canisters also?

Well, it’s not like the EPA could screw up something simple like a gas cap, could they? Oh wait, let me go kick my stupid EPA clustercluck portable gas can.

I called the Attwood technical support line asking about replacement gas caps for this weird EPA certified gas deck fill. The short answer is that they do not sell replacement gas caps because EPA rules.

The longer answer is that EPA regulations apparently require them to test each gas cap with the exact deck fill it is going into. Since you can’t test a replacement gas cap with your existing deck fill, it is not allowed by the EPA.

Attwoods recommended course of action is to buy a complete replacement set (deck fill and gas cap), remove the old existing deck fill and install the new deck fill. They acknowledged that some customers have been buying the complete replacement set and then just using the new gas cap on the old deck fill, but they did not officially recommend this.

If I had to go to all the effort to replace the existing dorked up deck fill, then I sure as heck would NOT be installing this POS style, and I would be installing the older style of deck fill that uses a simple o-ring on the gas cap.

I wonder what the install would be like. You would have to add a vent for the the new deck fill (right?). Also, no gas spitting up when done. It clicks off like a car when done

You don’t have a separate vent? Do you have the mythical carbon canister system?

None of the replacement cap options sound easy or fun or inexpensive.

So this has got me thinking, if the EPA really did mandate that each gas cap has to be tested with each deck fill, this could easily be the reason that the auto manufacturers decided to get rid of the gas cap altogether.

I was able to hold on to my last two old fashioned gas canisters. Someday, I may put them on the market with a huge mark up, but I'm keeping them until then even though I bought an battery lawn mower.

I never bother pouring gas into my boat from the cans. This is way simpler and no spilling.

Does this work with the 5 gallon NATO jerry cans? Those suckers get heavy fast.

If you are asking me...not likely long enough to reach the bottom.
