The SS wire that attaches my gas cap to the fill neck is frayed. Id like to replace it, but dont think I can easily access the fill neck to detach the bottom end of the cable.
Any ideas / suggestions?
Thx

Can you get to the to the un-frayed part? I would treat it like a ground wire in your house. Cut it and crimp it with a brass ferrule.
Easy-Twist Copper Crimp Sleeve Wire Connector, 18-10 AWG Wire Range
Problem is you need to find the right Ferrule Crimping Tool.

Understood consider a new cap outside mount/wire through the fiberglass - (greatlakesskipper.com) or buy several plastic caps in place some onboard and move on and continue with the summer. good luck

These pictures may give you a better idea of what you’re dealing with (assuming you have the “pop up” style gas cap). The one on the left is a 1-1/2” angled gas fill and the one on the right is a 2” straight gas fill. The spring is about 3”-3.5” long.
The gas fill on my boat is neither of these and is a 2” angled version.

Revisiting this; anyone know how to get access to the fill neck? How do the side seat back cushions come off on the starboard side?
