Cobalt 263 in Jupiter Florida

Post by JUPITER 263 »

Hi guys! I picked up a neglected 263 that sat in a boat barn for 9 years! The motor was badly seized from saltwater leaking down the risers into the exhaust manifolds and into the heads.

I did a lot of cleaning to remove 9 years of forklift soot including
high speed wheeling out the gelcoat, scrubbing the seats, shampooing the carpet, etc. to bring her back to life.

I spent a small fortune on a remanufactured 8.1L Gi block and used the intake manifold, oil pan, timing chain cover, pulleys, etc. off the old motor. Almost everything else is new;
Fuel system, risers, exhaust manifolds, starter, alternator, belts, plugs, etc.

We finally got the motor installed and went for our maiden voyage last week. I still have a couple of bugs to work out but had an amazing day on the water! What a great riding boat!

So glad you found us J63.

One of my favorite models. They ride incredibly well and are so versatile and maneuverable on the water. Great to see you bringing her back to life from the coma she was under.

Appreciate the pics too. So sexy.

And welcome aboard mate!

Nice work! Great looking boat.
Where did you get the 8.1 reman?

What is the tank aft of the batteries? Potable water?

Awesome job restoring her! Man I forgot how sleek those models look in the water, we had a 262 before and loved it. Bet it sounds awesome with that engine, enjoy!
