I've been here since about a week after getting our second boat, a 1999 226.
Coming to Cobalt from Bayliner was a giant leap forward. This thing has yet to leave us in the lurch, after 3 years now. Only "major" repair was the steering cylinder needing to be replaced and then re-replaced (under warranty) after a bad unit was installed.
It has the VP 5.7 and, with wife, 2 kids and I onboard, will sprint to just over 45mph at full throttle, although everyone seems to be just fine cruising around 35-40.
We pretty much spend our entire summer on Beaver Lake, Arkansas, but have been to Table Rock, in SW Missouri and LOTO and she handled both beautifully.
I am looking for some DIY ideas to freshen her up in the looks department a little. I've replaced all speakers with nice Sony units, as well as the head unit. Most recently, swapped in stainless cup holders, which was a nice touch of bling.
The interior is mostly gray (which might be my only con, since I'd prefer a nice dark tan), but the dash/armrest panels are all super plain grey, so I'm wanting to add some pop. I'm actually thinking of trying to wrap the panels myself in 3M DiCon or a good exterior vinyl wrap, before going professional...I figure, if I mess it up, I'm going professional anyway, so might as well give it a go.
The steering wheel is on deck for a swap, too.
I'd LOVE to get SeaDek, but the carpet is just in too good of shape to needlessly swap it out...maybe I should start allowing strawberry daquiri's and cheetos.
