2023 R4 Shadow Caster lighting issue

First timer here so forgive me if this is in the wrong category.

2023 Cobalt R4 - bought in January of this year new. Boat has been excellent but we’ve only been out twice at night. First time, the RBG lighting for interior was great and was changing colors for a few minutes but then stuck on solid white. Don’t think anything of it and parked it later. Have driven the boat a few times during the day since but tonight we wanted to go out on a ride with friends to watch the sunset.

In order to access the lighting we have to turn on the RBG lighting toggle on the dash then go to the Garmin Screen and select menu button twice. On the far right there’s a SC LIGHTING button you select. It takes a a few seconds to load then gives options to select a color.

Tonight I selected that and it went to the screen it instantly showed that OneHelm devices were being searched for. This went on for almost 10 minutes into our ride until finally we gave up.

After we watch the sunset I started googling options to restart the app and one suggested I go into settings and clear the user data and do a restart on the Garmin devices. I’ve done that and now the SC Lighting app is completely gone (palm on forehead).

I’m trying to avoid going to the dealer if at all possibly and being without a boat. Any idea how to fix this and reinstall the SHADOW CASTER lighting app into the garmin screen?

It no longer detects lighting according to the devices list

That's odd. I'm assuming you are looking for the Shadow Caster app in your toolbars? I have it as well on my '23 R4 OB.
I would suggest giving Garmin a call first and see what they say if you haven't already. It's unlikely it's something the dealer alone would be able to fix vs. yourself unless something went bad with the system.

Dealership came and picked it up and said the device was faulty and replaced it 🤷🏽‍♂️

That’s good, at least you’ll have a new unit

Previously I’ve had no issues with my ‘24 R4S but tonight I went to turn on the lights and experienced the same thing you described :(

Did the dealer ever offer any explanation? The Garmin software feels very buggy.

We took it to dealer and they reinstalled software and it was good for the next few times. Happened again a few weeks ago and we turned off engine and batteries for a few minutes annd restarted and that appeared to work.

Thanks. Hopefully the battery switch will work for us! I’ve run into a few other bugs and that usually resolves it.

Luckily after turning the battery off and trying the next day the issue resolved. I’ve seen one other time but turning off the battery for several minutes fixed it. Oddly turning off the batteries for <2 min did not have any affect and the error still remained.
