New gauges and switches

Post by Dnorth »

I am replacing all of my gauges and switches on my 1998 252.
Does anyone out there have a wiring schematic for this boat. The Captains Call (4 wire system) wasn’t working when I got the boat and there are a few connectors under the dash that are not plugged in to anything.

.
So glad you found us Dn….
The wiring harness for the boat will be found in your 252 Owner’s manual. Cobalt in Neodesha may be able to provide a more detailed one if you give them a call.

Any pics?

And welcome aboard mate.

It's not uncommon for Cobalt boats to use the same wiring harness for all variations of a particular model, so several wiring connectors may be left unattached depending on options.

The owner's manual for 1998 is common to all boats, and can be found here: https://cobaltboats.com/art/manuals/199 ... manual.pdf
but they weren't including much model-specific information at that time other than propeller charts and a brief specifications table.

Cobalt will often provide information such as a wiring diagram if you ask. They don't provide parts for boats older than seven years, but I've had good luck tracking down tech info as well as who made various parts so I could customize a few things on my boat 8-)

Thank you both for your reply. I have the owners manual and while having some great info it does not go into very great detail on the wiring. Is there a certain way or number I could request it from Cobalt ?

I've just called them during a work day. The number on their website is 1(800) 468-5764.
