Has anyone had this happen before. We sent to pull the plunger and pull top of swim step down into water per owners manual instructions and the plunger fell off and went missing into water? See photos. Does the plunger pin has threads? How did this come loose? I thought this was all built into the swim step metal brackets. Should this be under warrenty as the boat is only 1 year old? See photos

It can break or the knob can fall off - common problem if you are not very careful with it. Should be covered under warranty on newer boats.

Any idea how the plunger thing goes back in? Is this threaded ? Do you just slide a new one in ? Does us lock in place?

I know the cap is threaded because I have checked/tightened mine before - but mine has never broken so I can't say how it is installed. Yours looks like it broke. Look in the thread I put above - there is a copy of the instructions for installing a new one and lot's of info about fixing this, replacing it with a cheaper one and just not using it at all. I think you will get a new one from Cobalt under warranty this time, but after that is an expensive little thing to replace. The short of it is when that step is down, the boat rocking in waves puts a tremendous amount of pressure on that step, when the bow rocks up pushing the step down, that's when all the pressure is put on that pin and it can break.

It's threaded. I lost mine. I made sure I used thread locker on the replacement which is over $200!!!!!
