Hello everyone, had something happen this weekend that really surprised me. Was slowing down and may have cut the throttle too fast while making a turn. We got ready to take off and I felt like I had no steering. I couldn't turn the wheel and move the boat in any direction other than a circle. After a few "freak out moments" we lifted the hatch and noticed that the starboard engine had stalled. Once I started it back up I was able to captain the boat as normal. Has anyone else had this happen? I realize that with only 1 motor running (in case of emergency) it wouldn't be as easy to steer, but I didn't think it would be IMPOSSIBLE to do so. Any help or comments appreciated.

Can't say how or why that engine stalled coming off plane. However, with twin engine I/O boats - Volvo or MerCruiser it is pretty standard that only one engine has the power steering pump connected. You can still steer if the PS engine is off, it's just not power assisted.
