R6S Vs R8S - Looking for Owner Opinions

Greetings Cobalt Owners. As I’m new to the group here and I’m going to be placing an order for a 2025 R6S or R8S this winter and I’m looking for feedback on how much difference there really is between the two based on interior size and trailering. Looking for thoughts from owners for each on interior space and ease of trailering. Appreciate the input.

So glad you found us PaulH….

Hopefully someone here can chime in with interior dimensions and practicality.
Do you have a substantial tow vehicle?
Be sure to post a pic if you go that route.
And welcome aboard mate!

From what I have read the difference in size is in the bow, but dont quote me on that. As far as trailer goes, I pull my R8 Surf, with a half ton Dodge with the proper 392 heavy duty rear end. If I was lugging this thing every week a bigger truck would make me feel better, but I run the boat 4 hours one way 2 to 4 times a season and I just kick off the cruise on the uphills to keep the transmission happy. I run between 69 and 72 mph just fine.

Hey PaulH2U,
We have a 2022 R8 Surf and love it. We did question the agility of the boat when surfing as compared to the smaller R6S, however it has been no issue and we are so glad that we went with the roomier boat. Also, our lake gets some choppy water and the R8S really handles it well. We don't trailer (leave it in the slip through the season) so cannot answer you there, but glad to jump in on any questions you might have.

We also have an R8 22 Surf, love the boat and the size. Easy to trailer. I pull mine with an F350, I would recommend a larger tow vehicle for sure as the boat with trailer, gas, gear, etc is almost 9,000 lbs. We are on the lake once or twice a week locally. We trailer to the lake. We have Boatmate trailer. The boat loads and launches very easy. We travel to a larger lake about 4 hours south of us two to three times a year. It's a large boat if your newbie towing then at first it could be intimidating but no more than an R6 would be.

I have a ‘23 R8s that we recently parked next to a R6s. There is more room in the front of the R8 and an extra seat or two in the main part of the boat. I don’t trailer mine so no experience there.
