2008 Cobalt 252 In CT

Post by sturge »

First time Cobalt owner...have lurked for awhile learning some things.

Picked this one up in June - spent its first 15 years on Candlewood Lake in CT. It was very well cared for with only 650 Hrs on 5.7 GXI with DPS-A drive. I put it into a CT River slip for the summer. I'm 20 minutes to Long Island Sound or I can go upriver to Hartford area. I had an initial issue with it throwing serpentine belt. Eventually figured it out...stripped bolt on the PS bracket was causing it to flex during increased rpms and belt would come off. I was able to fix with a heli-coil and it never came off again.

Just pulled from slip a couple weeks ago and going through winterization before I tow it to indoor storage. Decided to tackle compounding/polishing gelcoat as it had some oxidation. Followed guidance of "local boydidgood" on YouTube. About $500 in materials and a fair amount of work but it came out FANTASTIC.
