Adding a transom trim switch?

Those of you who have added transom trim switches...how do they wire in? Do you have to drill for them? Where do you install them so they are reachable with the boat on the trailer? Anybody have pics? I'm thinking about doing this but not sure the best place to install, and not sure I want to drill any more holes...

So Jeff here...keep in mind I am not the nautical one in the family...but when do you see yourself using the transom tilt? We have it on our 222 and I think I can cound the number of times I have used it on one hand...mostly to move the lower so I dont bang my feet on it while sitting on the swim platoform.

Probably just when I pick up or drop off the boat at our storage place, so I can store the boat with the drive down. Pretty much any time I do that though, I'm up in the boat covering/uncovering or unhooking the battery charger anyway. Easy to just hit the trim switch on the throttle control at that point. Probably no need for it when I really stop and think about it.

I use it all the time.
When we are at the sand bar I use it to raise the drive as far as I can without sticking out past the swim plateform.
After I get the boat on the trail and away from the launch I lower it to drain water out of the drive. Then raise it before heading down the road.
Once I have it backed into the garage I use it to lower. I just like to see I'm not going to hit anything.

Sorry to talk you out of spending money I know its not exactly what we do around here. On the upside I maybe talked you out of drilling holes in your boat?

Maybe do it when you change your bellows next.
With the swim step starting in 2012 I use mine so the step when down does not hit the prop. I love it. Love not having to go in the boat to raise lower it either. It works when the battery is off too.....How they wired the boat.

X2 here. The best thing I've had to add to a few boats. It's a plug and play add on. Just drill one hole and mount it by your top platform on the port side. I wouldn't go without one.

Hmmm....I bet I could make a wireless one to avoid drilling holes.

Yes you can. I know one guy with a crownline that has that. Might be a different set up. But really you will jump in the water anyways with your pants on fob in your pocket and the plug out and back down the ramp with the drive dragging
Drill a darn hole. Ok three of them. I'll come over to help next auction.

T550, suppose to be plug & play but I have looked and looked again where to plug it in but cannot find. Cobalt says it is right around walk through area. I used flashlight & long handled mirror but no luck finding. Think I would use it a lot as VP says to store boat with drive down. Also to lower drive down to drain lower unit before taking to storage garage (also VP recommends). So, if someone has a newer 220 & can post pics, I'd appreciate.
Thanks
Dub

T55000. For how many times you start your engine at the storage unit And home you would love this.
Alaska on the new engine and drive packages I don't know how different they are. Mine you just unplug the main harness and plug the switch in between it. 5 minutes done. Yes I used the mercury switch on my Volvo.
