2012 Cobalt A28 fuel lines

Post by milkerson10 »

Replacing fuel pump on Volvo 8.1 this week, was going to replace fuel lines while doing this. Any recommendations on what fuel lines to use?? Anything better than OEM??

Fuel lines are not specific to engines like Volvo or Mercruiser. There is a rating, so it's a matter of buying hose that has a specific rating, you should be able to get the proper hose from any of the marine parts stores. Also make sure you get the correct size, as I recall most inboard engines use a 3/8" hose, but I would check to be sure.

Fuel feed hose should be rated:
A1-15 - SAE J1527
This means the hose is rated for enclosed spaces with the highest rating for permeation and alcohol fuel and has been tested accordingly.
the 1-15 is a newer spec that covers ethanol fuel, I would guess your current hose is A1 J1527.

I am planning to replace my fuel feed hose soon also.

Great info from Bill above. Unless you're using a ton of hose (like a manufacturer), a lot of places only stock A1-15 since it can be used for anything. Many places like Fisheries Supply sell Trident (a reputable brand) by the foot - see https://www.fisheriessupply.com/hose/fuel-hose
