Boat Lifts

Anybody use a boat lift? I had a lift built last year for my 220, it has a 6,000 lb capacity. Thought that should be enough for my R5 I just ordered, and dock builder stated I needed to upgrade as R5 is 4880 dry, add fuel, gear, and weight of actual lift, said I would be maxing it out. So today, I traded that lift for a Bottoms Up 4 points lift, which has a 8800lb capacity. Anyone using a similar lift?

I have a hydrohoist UL 6600 and planning on putting an R7 on it. If it doesnt work ill upgrade. Sales rep told me there is at least one R7 at the marina on a HH 6600. He did say it was maxed out 😕

I will be putting my 262 on a boatfloater 6600lb lift. Mine boat is 4700lbs dry so I have about 1900lbs of play for gear and fuel

I traded my lift in, and gave $3,000 additional for the Bottoms Up 8800lb lift. I figure it's worth the peace of mind. It's also a 4 corner lift versus a front mount lift. I know I can always grow into the lift, and it's better to be under capacity, than at or over capacity.

Very true. Plus it removes yet another obstacle when thinking of going bigger 😂

I haven't pulled the trigger but have a quote for a Hydo Hoist UL2 8800 lift which is what they told me I needed for my R7 Surf. I don't know much about lifts but they seem popular in my neck of the woods and were at the boat show earlier this month.

Good lift! Hydro hoist or boat lift.com is very popular out here.
Mounts each side of the slip.. easy to move. And it lifts straight up and has adjustable bunks so you won't rest anything on the hull chines.

Those front mount ones that drop away can be hard on docks. Most marinas here won't use them. Plus if they have no lever stops when you let the air out they can drop to the bottom.

Soonerfan the 8800 is most likely the best for your boat. Im going to see how the 6600 works on mine but if i had to guess ill be trading in for a 8800.

Did you add the R7 moniker shown on the bow, gdane?
Hadn’t seen that before.

A7 No Cobalt had that on the 2015 and 2016 A7's .Don't know why they stopped in 2017? There were some major changes in the A7 from 2015/2016 to 2017. We were pricing a 2017 A7 in November of 2016 when Lake Viking called me and said they had the 2016 A7 and Randy at Lake Viking made me a deal I couldn't refuse.
