Saved $300,000 (‘06 282 Now Surfing!”

When the kids grow up, they get creative. Boys put 700lbs ballast in floor of boat(portable water bags) the attached this surf gate via suction cups. Crazy! It worked. The twin 499mag HO’s just lope along. Now we are surfers. Old school, but hey, I didn’t think we would be surfing much.

That’s a great point Bruce.
PA passed a law a few years back limiting wake surfing to direct drive inboard and v-drive propulsion boats.
Our 263 (like the 282 above) had the extra extended swim platform option which placed the outdrive so far under the boat that you couldn’t hit it if you tried. That being said, CO is also another risk to be considered.

Good points guys.

. That said, it was quite remarkable how great it worked. And when all done surfing, switch back to 72mph mode. Way to go Cobalt.

I can't believe this is happening. A7 you know I loce you, we have dined together on the finest BBQ Neodesha has to offer, but I am /w Bruce on this one.
Love the creativity, and I have seen the 262 extended platform it is stupid long, but still just seems like a risk I personally wouldn't take.
To each their own and be careful, but if you want to Surf - and who doesn't these days - it seems a purpose built inboard powered surf boat may be a good play here.

Hey dont sell yourself short, they say surfing is way less impactful than other options like tubing or sking.
Good to hear from you, we were out your way last weekend playing heritage hills golf course and we also are now using Current Watersports as our Cobalt dealer. We will wave next time we drive by.

A little perplexed on your reply as I'm with ya' Nauti...it's just not worth the risk imho...even as creative as it is.
Good to hear from you!

My bad, I apologize I thought you were saying b/c of the platform it wasn't a huge risk. Thought it was a little out of character for you but hey never know lol.
As usual we are on the same page - good to hear from you as well hope all is well /w you and the family!

Nauti, we use Current, too. Nice facility, nice guys, and 10 minute drive.
Aslan, thought of you during the b-2 bombing raids. Bet you would’ve loved being up there “passing gas” as you put it. I remember some of the neat pictures you posted.

So far we have been happy /w them and the facility. For years Katie used a Mechanic down at Dale Hollow. Super convenient and they did really good work. They decided to retire - tired of crawling around in boats - and I dont blame them. Sad day. They had keys to our storage and to our boat and there was never a question in my mind of trusting them /w that.
Current is about a 2.5 hour Tow from the lake but we took a chance on them as they really are the closet dealer. They took care of a laundry list of items this spring including some gel work and from what I can tell did a pretty solid job. We will most likely use them going forward as there are not a lot of options around Dale Hollow.
I hope we dont spend a ton of time at the dealer but if we see a 220 or you see our R5 please stop us and say Hi.

Hey dub...yes that was our unit that "passed gas"

on the front end refueling. Pretty cool how that mission went down with the tactical deception.
good to hear from ya' my friend.
