Transom brass drain plug

Hello, I’ve got a 2015 R5 with a brass drain plug on my lower transom. I keep my boat in a slip in the water all summer. Does anyone apply Teflon tape to this drain plug prior to screwing in? And besides hand tightening followed by a 1/4 inch additional turn using a crescent wrench, does anyone recommend tightening further? Or recommend just hand tightening only?

Hand tight plus 1/4 has always worked for me. Overnighted once and it took a torch to undo. Lesson learned.

Hand tight plus a quarter turn with a wrench is about what I do as well. I trailer my boat, but I might consider teflon tape and making sure it's a bit more snug if I were keeping it in a slip.
