24' Slip, R5 on Lift

Guys, my covered slip is 24' long. I know the R5 is 25'8" long according to Cobalt.com with the swim platform, so the back couple feet will stick out past my covered slip. What I'm wondering is how long the swim platform is. So, my slip finger is 24', will I still be able to board the back of the boat off the finger, onto the swim platform?

The lift isn't installed yet, I'm just looking at the profile of the boat, and it appears, I will have enough room to step onto the boat, at the back of boat, in front of the swim platform, but can't find measurements anywhere for how long the swim platform is

Tricky.. some lifts bring the boat forward a foot as they come up due arm angles.. ever see some that the nose is in the walkway slightly..??

Some hoist have equal arms and go straight up not giving much room for you if what you say is correct.


Then there are the guys that... Back in ??

as the drop is obviously taking the bunks under the prop .

but that would have to be an excact science for me as I wouldn't have the nerve with twins to back over a hoist bunk..

Time to head out to the marina and get some measurements . Talk with the hoist mfg on dropping etc..and possibly get a bigger.. longer slip?

It's an exciting problem to have.. and well worth it once you get it set..

I wouldn't board the boat from the lift, the lift will be down when I get on the boat, so I think the lift was a point that I mentioned that probably won't have any bearing

Ahhh I missed your point.. sorry I thought you may want to access your boat on the hoist as well . Covering ..cleaning etc.

Cycleman does your cover include the swimdeck? If not, will it be exposed to the elements? Will you be able to get your cover on if the boat sticks out just a little?

When I have my new lift installed we're getting the longer lift arms so I can back in. When boarding the swimdeck will be even with the dock and everyone can just step right over on the boat. And when it's up all the way it'll be easier to put the cover back on.

My last boat was a 240 in a 24 ft slip. With the swimdeck it was 26 ft long, but we could still step off the end onto the deck for boarding, it was just a touch tight. I think you'll be fine being about the same length. The only reason I'm setting mine up to back in is because of the easy boarding and the cover.

I can't give an answer to the question as mine is in storage or I would measure it for you. I can say that my R7 is going in a 30' slip. I have opted to set up the lift for stern in. The 1st deciding factor for me was installing the Mooring Cover will be much easier as it starts at the bow and goes back which I can start in the boat. The factory cover does cover the swim platform but it is tight and tough to put on and would be very difficult to put on bow in and attempting to reach around the swim platform. The 2nd was for boarding purposes as we will have a lot of people and stuff to load. Makes it so much easier and safer (IMO) loading and unloading with the platform around the same height of the dock with lots of room.

No, I don't use a mooring cover, just the bow and cockpit cover so the swim deck isn't covered. I've ordered a bottom up 4 corner lift, and I don't think it can be set up for backing into the slip. We are adding a 3ft extension on the awning roof, so that will help cover/protect the swim deck that will be exposed.

My brothers neighbor on the lake just throws towels over his platform. I would cover it some how just to prevent the oxidation.
