I like the Thunderbolt that’s not built into the distributor
A few years Merc put all the electronics in the distributor
They had some problems
Most run the external box an I think they have 4 wires
Pretty durable and seam to last forever

Re: New 1987 21BR Owner
Nice boat good luck with the motor
Both HEI And Thunderbolt are good ignitions for marine application
The only thing to be careful of is the distributor gear
If it’s an 87 block it’s a flat tappet cam, if it’s a later block an running a roller cam you need to run a brass or nylon distributor gear ...

Nautigrirl
My play list is a lot like yours
I was in charge of the music for our bowling league b4 the Covid mess
Have everything from Rap, country classic and some old time rock and roll
My personal favorites come from the old Mowtown label
Lots of great artists on that label

Re: Alpha One Prop selection
If you’re trailing then Stainless is the way to go once you know the correct size
I would try the 19 Solax to see how it runs preforms and handles

Re: Alpha One Prop selection
Do you dock or trailer the boat?
If it’s docked stainless props have a tendency to cause electrolysis on the outdrive and if you’re not sure on the pitch a lot cheaper
I prefer Stainless as well but have run Mercrusier 4 blade 22 on my old chaparral

I love the LED lights
I replace any bulb I can with them, just have to get the polarity correct or they won’t lite

Re: Alpha One Prop selection
Try a 4 blade aluminum prop
15 or 17
4 blades usually work better on a heavy boat it will give you more lift than a 3 blade
I only used a high 5 once and had too much motor for the pitch we had so I can’t speak to your current prop other than it’s to big
