New To the chat - 2005 200BR
Hello All,
I am obviously new here but wanted to join to find the knowledge from a lot of the other Cobalt owners. We recently purchased our first boat. It is a 2005 200. It has the 5.0 mated to the alpha one. I drove from Albuquerque to Phoenix to pick it up. It has 252 hours on it so far.

Thanks! I didn't think finding a nice used boat would be so exhausting and stressful. I literally searched all avenues for weeks until I came across this one. Even then it was a rush to get things rolling because of the chance of it being sold out from under us.

Welcome from Texas. It always seems to be a rush. I drove from Dallas to Omaha for my boat and a few other members drove 1/2 way across the country for theirs. But, you have to do that sometimes to get your boat. Love the color. We are kind of partial to red.MarkB05-200 wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2020 4:57 pm Thanks! Re: New To the chat - 2005 200BR
Thank you all for the welcomes! We love her so far and she is a smooth ride. As I mentioned she is a used boat but was well maintained. We will be using her for some water sports like skiing, tubing, wake boarding and knee boarding. I need to get her prop situation figured out first though. She currently has a High Five 5 blade 21 pitch prop and it is making her extremely sluggish getting out of the hole. WOT is only getting up to 3,600 RPMs and motor label says it should be 4,600 to 5,000. She was from Arizona and our lake is about 4,400ft above sea level. If I am understanding everything I have read, I need to switch to a 4 blade 15 pitch which should raise the rpm's approximately 1,200. Anyone have any expertise or experience here? Or recommend a certain thread for that question?

High five is a good prop and yes you are way over propped. Every 2 pitches you will gain about 200 rpms.
You want to get to 5000 rpms though. I spun mine to 5200 but I'm sure the tach was off some. But each prop is a diff diam so changing pitches isn't that easy. Look for a mercury rev 4 15 pitch if they Make one that low. It is a stump puller. That is the best prop you will find for what you want to do. I also used a vensura prop it was nice. Look for a mercury enertia prop also. Very good prop. Or stick with a high five.
I had a 2004 Cobalt 200 but it had a b3 drive with a 350 mag and it came from Colorado to here. So I was opposite of you. I didn't have to change anything it still hit wot rpm range. But it was slow out of the hole. Hence the reason I now have a 220 with a bb.

I wish I had a alpha just so I could change the props less expensively.
