Re: Boat Bling Products
My experience with the Hotsauce for water spot was awful. It streaked and left swirls like crazy. My boat is black so maybe that's part of it. I talked to Boat Bling and they said "hmmmm never heard of that. Good luck". I don't know if it was the color, a wax I used, or a bad batch, but it will ...

Re: What Size Hydro Hoist
I have an older Hydrohoist which is rated at 6k (came with the dock). I have the R3 and that's about 4300, fully wet, maybe 4800. I don't really have an issue with the "lift" part of it, but i will tell you it takes about 4-5mins to get the tanks "full" of air. What makes me crazy is the amount of ...

Re: Trailering - Rear tie-down points
Transom- Those points are very strong---I watched them lift my boat off the trailer using the 2 transom straps and the bow eye----it made me cringe. Think of it this way, the swim platform is essentially a lever. The farther away from the transom you get the more stress on the swim platform.
As ...

Re: Fender Placement & Mooring Techniques – What Works Best Long-Term?
A couple of questions-
Is this a traditional boat slip or is it a one sided tie up? It sounds like it's a traditional slip. Is the slip on fixed docks or floating docks? Tides? I had a 31ft sailboat that was in a marina for many years on floating docks. Our method assuming you have access to ...

Re: Need some electrical panel help on breaker conversion
"There is no problem with . . ."
That or add a double 20 (which is what I did). Then you'll have an extra breaker in case you need it in the future. (Be sure to buy a breaker that's compatible with your panel.) You can also pull the 12ga from an existing receptacle (which I've also done ...

Need some electrical panel help on breaker conversion
Hey guys-
Been a while and I hope everyone is well. Seems like I remember someone on here having some good electrical knowledge. I need to add an outdoor circuit, which will involve installing a new breaker, running new 12g wire to an outdoor rated weatherproof receptacle with a GFCI---I get that ...

Re: Cleaner advice
I'll second the "specialty cleaners" not being worth the $$$. I tried some West marine Non skid cleaner. It was useless. I've also tried starbrite Mildew remover.....useless. My go to cleaners are:
Turtle wax slick & slide car wash for the outside.
Comet cleanser and a scrub brush for the non skid ...

Re: Oil Change Save some Money
I agree it's not fun, but honestly, I'm still limited to the size of the dipstick tube. It's not that much different. If 1/4" fits down it, then it can't be more than 3/16' ID. What I am really gaining? Plus, I would have to re-engineer the fitting on top of the pump. As is it does it in about 15 ...

Re: Oil Change Save some Money
100% agree. These new engines make winterization and oil changes a breeze. One tip I will offer- I have a 2016 5.3 and the vacuum pump from west marine. That particular pump uses a 1/4" hose that goes down the center of the dipstick tube (yes it's slow). THe tube that comes with the pump is not ...

Re: Tonneau Cover Snaps Breaking
I had the same problem every time I towed the boat. My snaps were the exact opposite. So loose they wouldn't stay snapped which allowed a larger area to flap and pulled the whole snap out. Dealer replaced multiple snaps as they pulled out of the fiberglass. I gave up on the snap covers and went to ...

Re: Catastrophic engine failiure in 2023 R6 Surf
First- that totally sucks. I hope they stand behind it. Hard to remember in the heat of the moment, but next time you find yourself drifting towards shore, you can always toss an anchor out until you can readily assess the situation. I learned that many years ago and always have an anchor ready to ...

Re: Let's see your Tow rigs with your boat!
Thanks A7- You know strangely enough, the room isn't that much different than in my Sequoia. The Sequoia had more interior width for sure and a wider back opening. I have to move my dog crates forward about a foot in this one and that really negates the interior room. It's a bit better, but not huge ...

Re: Overpowered?
We all love power, but I sure hope the marine architect got it right on weight distribution- Put all that weight on the back of a toon type, hit a strong headwind at 70 and watch her flip or stuff the bow. I wouldn't run it, well at least not the 500's
