Thanks for the really good advice Kate! Update to the progress on the restoration:
Engine work completed
1. Timing was reset (it was more than 10 deg off!), new Button, rotor.
2. Spark plugs, oil filter, fuel filter--Replaced with new.
3. Shifter cable boot replaced
4. Battery switch installed ...

Update on the Boat Restoration.

The impeller has been replaced and the Operating temp dropped to 160 Degrees on the water. That's the good news. The not so good news is that the time spent on the water revealed some other issues.

Thanks BBP, Yeah I did run the engine with a hose attached, the temp hit 180 and the water started to come out of the back of the drive. So the Thermostat opened, and everything looked like it was working. Also, the seller said he had the boat out the previous weekend before I got it. not sure ...

ohh yeah, the wheel cover on the trailer is jacked up. Looks like he hit something backing up. It dislodged the connection on the wheel cover, it's on the list....
