Re: 2013 Cobalt R5 Purchasing Question
I sold my flawless 2014 R5 with 200hrs on a VP380 this summer for 85k without a trailer. Mine was white without a tower.
This makes me feel good about our 2014 R5 with VP 380 w 199 hours and optioned very well. Bought it at the end of '21 for $84k
Full Black hull. I did ceramic coat the black at ...

Re: Finally - New to Me R7
Gorgeous color combination. I love the fixed arch on ours. Going from a Bimini previously with straps clipped that would vibrate when at speed to this is a game changer. It also seems to provide a small amount of shade from the side which my wife likes. The only draw back is docking with a wind. I ...

Re: 2015 r5 grounding blocks
Hello, I have a '14 R5. Not sure if there are multiple grounding block locations, but the one that looks to be a main grounding block is located just behind the motor on the transom. I have just started to get into tracing stereo/amp wiring on our boat. Hope this helps

Re: Extended Swim Platforms
I had a swimplatforms.com platform installed on our old Chris-Craft 200 bowrider. It made the boat feel so much bigger, especially when hanging out at the sandbar, or in a cove. My only regret was not getting it sooner. I thought the quality was very good. Ours was also closer to the waterline, but ...

Re: Cobalt Fender Clips
I consider myself lucky. I needed one, and ended up finding someone on Facebook Marketplace that had 2 brand-new, still in the factory shipping bag. He was selling them for $30 each plus shipping. At that price I grabbed both.

Re: Porta Potty on 2019 R5 Surf
I have this same set-up and need to pump it out maybe twice a season (One of the requirements by better half was to have a bathroom to use for early spring and late fall cruises). The Marina we go to pump-out has a very powerful vacuum pump to it. I get it emptied out and then put maybe another 3-4 ...

Re: Stereo Location 2014 R5
Actually I am on Wylie, but Lake Norman Marina is the closest Cobalt dealer for us. When/If you upgrade and have any questions, let me know. I will probably have new wiring (speaker wire, power wire and RCA amp cables) re-run this year as I putter with the boat.

Re: Stereo Location 2014 R5
So I did buy the PMX-8BB and I bought 2 of the PMX-1R's. One for the dash and one for the transom/rear area. I also had to buy the Y-Cable and extension cables since the old RF cables are not compatible. I then went to Lake Norman Marina and asked if it was possible to get the Dash Panel from a 2016 ...

Re: Stereo Location 2014 R5
I had this exact same problem with mine. Did not matter who was connected to it, or if I tried moving the Dongle. I don't know if it was older Bluetooth technology or what? I also read on other boat forums people having the same problems with those older RF Systems with the Dongle Bluetooth. That ...

Re: RF Head Unit Upgrade?
Beautiful boat. My R5 had the same RF unit, but my Bluetooth would fade in & out all the time. After checking the connections which I also tried securing with electrical tape and reading up on the dongle from other boat brand websites, I decided to upgrade to the newer RF system. The Bluetooth ...

Re: From a Chris-Craft to a Cobalt
Well Owning a Chris-Craft was a dream come true. I grew up on Chautauqua Lake and my dad had a 1962 26’ Chris-Craft Cavalier.
The build quality and design was ahead of its time. I would see 10 year newer boats that were not built as well and looked older than ours. In 14 years of owning it, besides ...

From a Chris-Craft to a Cobalt
Just wanted to introduce myself. Been lurking for a year, and finally got my account set-up. We purchased a new to us 2014 Cobalt R5 with the VP 380 last year. Bought it from Candlewood Lake at the Cobalt dealer as it only had 199 hours. I would say it is a bit of an upgrade from our 2000 Chris ...

Re: 2015 R5 loss of power. Engine light and triangular light on
I had that exact same thing happen on my new to me 2014 R5 with the VP 380. First time out, ran great and then heading back home got the check engine light and limp mode home. 199 hours on it. Changed out the plugs and it runs like a top again.
