2003 Cobalt 240
2003 Cobalt 240
Looking at a 2003 Cobalt 240 with 219 hours on the meter. It has the 8.1 Penta with the Duo Prop.
Seller is wanting $30,000. Interior and exterior are excellent. Comes with a matching trailer as well.
Wondering if anyone has thoughts on reliability and known issues with the 240?
Any thoughts and info appreciated!

Hey MG87. So glad you found us!
I’d hop on that boat with those specs and that price. It will go fast. Any pics of this 240?
And welcome aboard mate!

Ya definitely have check the boat out I would have somebody more knowledgeably the me (Professional) do it, might be a repower (new engine). Spend $50K and have it sit? Sometime things are to good to be true. FW/SW boat?

I wouldn’t use my bad luck as a standard to go by. I’ve worked on engines my whole life, there was no way of knowing a bearing would go bad. And there’s no way the previous owner could have known. In fact the previous owner wrote me a check for $1,500 and the dealer another $1,500. The full rebuild will end up costing me just a fraction of what it could have been.Krob1114 wrote: Sun Sep 19, 2021 6:45 am You might want to look at this thread and really check the boat out:

But yes, give it a good test drive and look at the maintenance history. Sometimes that just isn’t enough though.
