Ok is funny in the R even series they don't even put transom deadrise in the specs. In the odd R series they do. Why hide it. Lol hell I would hide the weight first.
Yes I agree that tiny R4 swim platform is easy to small.

Again they still don't offer the Merc bravo4.

I agree with you on the odd series R's. Very disappointed particularly with the hull deign. They reduced the deadrise from 21 to 17 and removed the extended running surface. With the acquisition by Malibu they seam to be 100% focus on lake boating. Missing a huge market along the coast.

I think the extended running surface fell victim to the Malibu surf gate design and not wanting to have different molds for surf and non-surf hulls.

Its better for surfing, which unfortunately 100% of the market is heading. And that's ok if you want a surf boat. I have seen guys post that the ride is better with the evens, I am guessing that the shear weight is helping this out

I'm not sure about 100%. Pretty high percentage for sure though. The thing is they already have two dedicated surf brands with Malibu and Axis. It just seems they are evolving away from the heritage of what made Cobalt great for so many years.

Maybe they should consider expanding the A Series? (Though I'm not too much of a fan of the angular lines of the A29). Offer the R Series as the Surf model and the A Series for those who only want a luxury bowrider that's got a hull designed for handling chop well.

As for the %, yes. It just seems to me all the high $ boats are turning that direction expect the smaller scale manufactures like Formula. And with brand new purchases where Im located people either buy a pontoon or a surf/tow boat, my family being the exception.

I suppose my experience is probably quite a bit different on Winnipesaukee than elsewhere. For 1, our season of when most people want to be in the water is only a couple of months.

For 2, it can get pretty lumpy on Winnipesaukee. This was from yesterday. I would not want to be in a surf boat in conditions like this

Larger bowriders and cruisers are still much more popular than surf boats or pontoons
