I prefer the better coverage of the mooring cover for sure
From the videos I saw of it being installed, I don't think you'll have any trouble. The cover is installed from inside the cabin so it doesn't matter if it's on a lift or still in the water.

For what it's worth, I'm in a slip with a lift and ordered the mooring cover.

If you have access to both rear corners of your boat while on the lift you will be fine. The ratchets to tighten the strap that runs around the cover are at the rear of the boat. You are correct that the cover is mostly put on while inside the boat from front to rear then you just have to tighten the ratchet straps in each rear corner. At least on my R5 cover there are 2 somewhat large zippered openings above the swim platform so worse case you should be able to open them and walk across the swim platform to access the ratchets and just close the zippers as you exit.

I found a video on Youtube...don't have time to find link now, that shows Cobalt rep putting a mooring cover on from the inside of the boat.
It has to be folded properly. We use two people most of the time and go down both sides. Some here prefer separate covers because they don't have access to one side, and haven't seen the video.

The bigger screens are really nice. We added the rear view camera as well, great for the driver when you have a surfer up, but that is certainly a "nice to have". My first time having a windlass, and we usually anchor at least once during a day on the lake, I love not having to haul up the anchor by hand any longer!

We have ours on a lift and it's not hard to install the mooring cover. I can do it either raised or on the water, but a little easier when it is lowered.

I leave the zippered part open in the back where I stand at the end while installing over the swim platform, then step off and reach over and zip it up. Helps to have long arms.... :)

And yes, the marina installed our lift too far back to get the boat as far in the slip as I would like, so they are fixing it this winter.

Thanks for the video links. The link for the larger boat is the one that would apply for the R6 since that mooring cover goes around the swim platform. From the video it seems possible to install from the inside the boat and then standing on platform. The ratchets were accessible from the platform and so were those confidence straps. Because of my slip arrangement it would very difficult if i had to step off to either ratchet or connect those two confidence straps.

Would it be inadvisable to skip the anti pooling system, even if you're in a covered slip?

I think that comes automatically with the cover. Are you saying just throw the cover on while it's on the slip? Do you ever get a sideways rain? If you get rain on the cover it will sag and wreck your cover. In my garage I never use my poles 😂😂

The support poles are part of the anti pooling system so the cover would droop in the front & rear. It would work without but would be more like a dust cover, but if it never gets rained on it probably wouldn’t matter.

We actually left our R6 surf at the dealership for a few weeks with the mooring cover on, but the anti pooling system was not installed.
The cover never sagged. The fit and quality of the cover is fantastic.

I should have said our R5 surf. The R6S is coming in December Lord willing and the creek don’t rise.

Closed on her today... Will take delivery in a couple of weeks. It'll be a long couple of weeks for sure! The only change I made from my original build sheet was to get the 10" screens and the on board battery charger. After demoing the boat today for a little over an hour, I'm really glad I sprung for the bigger screens.

With 3 people on board, a little chop, the VP350 easily got to 52mph. 30mph to WOT gave you a good snap of the neck. Very happy with the power output.

Congrats!! Looks like we have the same build, colors and all!!

Great to hear about the power of the 350. I opted for the same engine.

Mine is still at the dealership waiting for warmer weather here in Michigan.
