R5 vs R6 size
Upon reading a lot I am not quite sure if the R5 is bigger then the R6 it replaces. Looks like beam is bigger on R5 but R6 is heavier. Trying to understand how they compare out in rougher seas if i read someone in an R5.
Re: R5 vs R6 size
Overall length and beam are similar but the R6 is about 1,000 lbs heavier. Attaching Cobalt trailer data for reference.
Hull design between the two are extremely different. R6 has a deadrise of 17 degrees vs 21 degrees on the R5. Also the R5 incorporated an extended hull feature that pushed the engine and outdrive about 18" further forward. This makes getting on plane very quick and gives the boat a great ride angle, but at the expense of some cockpit area. I prefer the R5 for rough water and would have looked at other boat options had my dealer not have one of the few R5's on the lot this past winter.

Thank stifflkd! In talking with the dealer yesterday, he mentioned that Cobalt had been pulling a lot of information off their website. So thanks for sharing the trailer data!
