Power won't shut off
Power won't shut off
So, I finally changed out my circuit breakers, attached new ring terminals, etc. Photos below of what was replaced.. The big moment came, I turned the battery selector to battery 1, turned the key, and the helm and stereo amplifier fired up and I was good to go and celebration ensued. Then I turned the key off and the stereo stayed on and the bilge blower would still turn on. I turned the battery selector to off and everything kept running. My selector is also pictured. While I'm glad everything turned on the only way I'm getting it off is to disconnect the circuits from the selector. Thoughts?

Re: Power won't shut off
I have a similar problem, with my battery switch set to "Off" I still have power to my bilge blower, stereo, interior lights; generally what ever is controlled from the helm. I have replaced the battery switch and checked all connections, nothing appears out of order. But the issue is this, since power stays "on", something is constantly draining my battery (it seems just one battery is affected, not both), and when left unattended without a charger attached, that battery can be depleted. I've had the marina, a Cobalt dealer, take a look, they found nothing incorrectly wired. For now my solution has been to install an on-board charger, a smart charger (Guest ChargePro 5/5 from West Marine), which keeps both batteries fully charged despite the small continual discharge. I know that treats the symptom, but when you don't know what the problem is.....at least I don't have to worry about dead batteries.

Did you ever find the cause of the power not shutting off? I’m going to guess that the battery selector switch had corroded and malfunctioned?

Not really, I'm pretty sure I had some wires crossed. In any event, I took the boat into a shop and had a new battery selector and circuit breaker installed. No more issues but it was more likely a user created error on my part.Titaniumboy wrote: Wed Oct 12, 2022 2:18 amnlmajors wrote: Sat Jan 08, 2022 6:19 pm Then I turned the key off and the stereo stayed on and the bilge blower would still turn on.
