Buying a new Mercury engine

Post by andymoler58 »

I was thinking about purchasing a 1984 19’ cobalt and swapping out the engine for a new mercruiser

Does anybody have any idea on how much that would cost or has anyone else done this before?

Lockey14 would know the best. But I would do a 350 long block and make it fuel injected and a Alpha 1 drive and be happy. I'm guessing you will have 5k to 10k in it?

Does it already have a Mercruiser drive?

I think even if it doesn't it would be better to redo the transom. It's probably rotten anyways. Maybe even switch to a B3 drive instead of a Alpha?
