Nice win. $85 is a whole lot better than $600.

If I remember correctly your boat had seen a lot of saltwater in the Puget Sound?

So I see a side gig in your future - buying a dozen or so AC Delco throttle bodies and some red spray paint.

I suspected you might be from across the pond as I had seen a tiny bit of “accent” in your writing. I think it was your use of the word “bin” in reference to tossing something in the garbage.

 Yes, I'm from Scotland originally - that's what my screen-name means - more correctly D'Ecosse which is French for "Of Scotland"

Yes, it is a Salt Water boat - there was a leak at the Sea Water Pump which was spraying tell-tale trace around the engine bay cover - so I'm sure some of that got in there too through the Spark Arrestor which is right above the belt (but otherwise it was probably not looked at in the Boat's 16 years!)
I completed the Winterization Maintenance today also and Fogged it - That left a nice coat of oil on the new TB so I'm sure that will help over the Winter
As I mentioned, will definitely be checking on that as a maintenance item and cleaning as necessary before it gets to that extreme. I might just work on that old one to see if I can restore it.

Regarding the Paint - not sure how big a call there is for these 8.1 TB's to be honest!
And tell me what you think, but I kinda like the Black (which goes with the other ancillaries), vs the red

I didn’t dare guess which part of the British Isles you were from as I didn’t want to make the equivalent faux pas of calling a Southerner a Yankee, or vice versa.

A leaking water pump would have had a salt water spray in your engine compartment. It doesn’t get much worse than that. I’m sure your new throttle body will outlive us both.

As a Mercruiser guy, black engine parts are beautiful. The red Volvo Penta always reminded me of Harbor Freight red. JK.

Decosse, nice work hunting down the problem and fixing it, and a big thanks for sharing your solution with the forum! Problems like this rarely happen to only one person, and hopefully you'll be a big help to the next guy who finds the same thing.

Thank you John @jhnmdahl - I'm Ken
Hopefully might help someone else, as you say.
I should really change the title on the YT video to be more reaching, but can probably add some keywords - it's more likely to affect boats than cars I would expect, as doubtful car throttle body would experience that degree of corrosion, and especially with a better air filter system - but hey, if it helps only one person it's worth reporting.

.
FWIW DEcosse I changed the title on this forum thread to Throttle Body Clicking noise (vs just "Clicking noise") to help others find it.
Again nice follow up.

Appreciated @AsLan7 - when first posted I didn't know the source of the noise! :D
