2015 220 Mooring cover question
2015 220 Mooring cover question
I got the mooring cover from my Cobalt dealer about a yr ago and I can not get it to fit correctly. The boat is on a sling lift and under cover so it isn't super important that it fits super tight but it still bothers me that I paid $1200 bucks for a cover that isn't right. No matter what I do the band will not fit under the rub rail in the back. The straps that are supposed to hold it in place with the tie down anchors until you get the cover ratcheted tight are way to long to be of any use. Just wanted to get some other opinions before I bring it up to the dealer. Probably don't have much chance of them doing much as I have had it awhile and just lived with it. Thanks for any thoughts.

Re: 2015 220 Mooring cover question
The straps on the back are for trailering. Just tuck them under the cover on your lift. I would loosen the straps going around the inseem of the cover (ratchet) and then after around the rub rail ratchet it tight. If it truly wasn’t cut right work with dealer and get it fixed

Re: 2015 220 Mooring cover question
The problem is that no matter how much I loosen the rachet it will not fit under the rub rail.

Go to dealer with boat and work through it with them. If it was cut wrong, then have them and commercial sewing make it right.dhuston99 wrote: Fri Feb 10, 2023 10:15 am The problem is that no matter how much I loosen the rachet it will not fit under the rub rail.

Re: 2015 220 Mooring cover question
I had a very similar issue with my Under Armour cover I bought this past summer for my 242. No matter what I did, it would not fit under the rub rail correctly. I emailed them and they handled it with no issues at all. It was a new cover though, but they hands down handled the issue quickly and took care of it. Warranty is 2 years against manufacturing Defects. Getting it covered shouldn't be an issue.
They had me check to make sure that the straps weren't twisted or anything at the front before I sent it back. But they were absolutely phenomenal to work with.

Re: 2015 220 Mooring cover question
On my R5 it fits REALLY tight around the swim platform! I put the first corner on then move to the second corner and pull so hard I can hardly get my fingers out without pinching them. Then I count about 10-12 ratchets on the straps and it’s good and snug.
Re: 2015 220 Mooring cover question
Mine would only fit around one corner of the swim platform. ratchet straps were all the way open with nothing on them and opened up to get as much room as possible. Even fighting and getting it partially over the rub rail, there was no way to even get 1 click on the ratchet straps.

Re: 2015 220 Mooring cover question
We too just bought a Cobalt mooring cover for our 2014 220S. The first time I put it on I swear it was too small but adjusting the nose, side, unbuckling both side clips, etc. and eventually it fits. But like other say, getting it over the final swim platform beltline is a bitch. And of course you also have to shimmy through the walk-through to stand up the poles which makes the fit even tighter.
I found unclipping both side clips is best and leave them undone. Make sure even the nose and side are right on the spot so you have as much slack in back as you can get. Clip one side with the slide band as long as possible, same on other side, pull the covers down over the platform belt-line and go back and for tightening up the corner straps until it's snug. Again, it's a real PITA and I'm solo and in a slip with a finger dock only on one side. Good thing I'm skinny and can slide through the walk-through when done to go back under and connect the pole straps and tidy up.
Note that I rinse and repeat this about every 2 weeks when I go down to turn her over during winter. No fun.
