I did the drain plug. Wired it to the existing dash switch. I didn’t want to drill holes in my transom. I know..don’t judge me..
Decent, not incredible.
But, in the last four years, we’ve only been out at night once.
And there's my dilemma-
Maybe I'll just get a puppy....
How is Miss Elle T?
HEY Sailor!.
LOL, she’s soaking up the sun and living the semi-retired life down here in Florida with us..

Add a flagpole, I put one on our R5 and I also put one in my Sea Rat. It seem daunting but it really isn’t that bad. I placed mine on the opposite side that Cobalt installs the factory one. I use a 2’x3’ flag so it’s quite big and I didn’t want it flapping in my face when I sit on the rear bench. I usually end up on the port side when anchored and resting on the back bench so I have easier access to the remote radio controls.

The puck lights are cool. We have two and they look great, even on the smaller hulls. I mainly use them for night swimming at the dock.
well thats interesting - what type of dock/marina are you in? Mine doesnt technically allow swimming at the docks, though the big houseboat slip owners do. There is sign saying no swimming/not safe/voltage warning.

I don't swim at the marina where we keep the boat. Too much going on, though I don't see any signs posted. Generally friends houses or times we rent lake houses with docks.

I’m thinking about upgrading the speakers in my R5 this spring. The stock system has enough power but the JL’s are just a mid grade speaker and swapping out speakers would only take me an hour or so. My pseudo audiophile nature wants more, lol.

Back to the subject title: spring and bored: Last winter, I used the Quick Links: Unread Messages link and went through this whole website.
Lots of good stuff. I pretty much fast forwarded through things like trailers and tow vehicles, because we don't have either. Good use of spare winter time.

what type of chart plotter do you have and where and how will you mount it to replace your RAM mount? When you installed it originally did you drill a new hole in the hull to mount the transducer?

Lots of great options but I’m leaning towards something from Focal.

Not concerned with not using marine grade speakers?

I sold car and marine audio equipment for a decade in my 20’s and Marine grade doesn’t mean a lot when it comes to speakers. The back of the speaker is a bit more protected and the grills shed water a bit better but in the R5 the back of my speakers don’t get wet anyway. I’ll solder the connections and use heat shrink as well. The two speakers that are just above the swim platform I will leave stock as they do get wet sometimes when the boat is loaded with 12+ people. I’ve never had any issues using regular car audio equipment in a freshwater boat and the choices on the high end car speakers are much greater.
