How much was the VP switch? My dealer quoted @ $250, so thinking the Mercury switch would work (plug and play) I bought that one for @$65. Looks like the VP switch will plug right into the harness (see second picture in my post above) and the 3 wire connector type plugs must goto back of the switch. Hard part on this one is cutting the rectangular hole in the boat vs a round hole.

Let us know how the install goes. I’ll probably buy the same one, once I get over $250 for a switch. I know I could fashion my own switch, but I like to do things like this the OEM way.

Personally...buy the Mercury switch. It's a round hole so way less risk of screwing it up. You can use it with that harness you bought...will just have connect that one 3 pin Deutsch connector to the Mercury switch.

My Volvo oem transom switch looks just like that. It has a round hole behind it. The switch as gone south and need a new one. No luck with the internet. Will probably have to go to the dealer for a replacement.

Here is the front and side of that switch. Call them on the phone and see if they will sell it to you.

Would you be able to show me where the cables that hard wire it to the battery come from? It was easy to find where to blur into the wiring harness, but it won’t work when the battery switch is off. I know so just need to figure out where the wires the cables that attach to the battery are hiding all lucked away. The switch is supposed to work all the time…
