First impressions of our new R30…

Post by Acercpilot »

Well, the wait was too long and seemed to take forever. Part of that was due to family requirements that did not allow us to get to the boat while it languished at the dealer for 3 weeks waiting for us to get back from a family trip for a grandson’s high school graduation. But enough of that stuff and now the boat. First of all it is incredibly smooth and linear. The digital aspect of the controls are simply perfect. I opted for the 350 VPs and the power delivery is incredible, just very smooth. Now I know performance, I have a hot rod Audi with 1000hp and I’m a retired military pilot with lots of time in high performance supersonic jets and I can tell you I see no reason to go for and motors larger than the 350VPs. In my humble opinion they hit the sweet spot with economy and performance. This thing is a monster coming out of the hole. The digital steering is another killer feature. It’s so easy to hold a course even on a choppy Lake of the Ozark kind of day.

Now the boat itself is definitely a Sweet Spot boat! I think it’s the perfect size for a busy lake like LOTO. It handles the chop like a pro and it gives you the performance that you know you want. The seamless integration with the Garmin cockpit is also awesome. The way you can switch displays and call up the info you need is just perfect. Plus don’t even get me started on the Cobalt fit and finish. It’s just beautiful. The color combination of Pacific Blue with Black stripe with Caramel and Carbon Interior is just amazing. I love it. It only has 3.8 hours on it so I haven’t opened it up YET. But don’t worry WOT days are sure to come. That’s all for now…

I almost forgot. 3 weeks ago a neighbor at LOTO had me out in his new to him 2016 Se Ray 350 SLX. The steering was vague and felt like my old 2006 Sea Ray 240 Sun Deck. The larger waves pushed us around a bit also . Nothing like my new R30 even though his was a larger and quite a bit heavier boat. That's definitely all for now. Pics to follow
