Trim Button Sensitivity
Trim Button Sensitivity
Hello. I have a 2020 R3, and the trim button is really tough to engage. It takes a heck of a press, whether raising or lowering the outdrive. Any suggestions in improving the sensitivity? Thanks, John

Re: Trim Button Sensitivity
First thing I noticed in my 2019 Volvo powered was the delay, all other boats I've owned it started moving immediately. Now there is a slight delay, maybe that could be it?

Yes, it is Volvo. I will ask my dealer to check it out. It seems a physical problem, as if the rubber trim button is not making good contact, so requiring a hard press. Thanks for the help!

Mines like that too... I just figured it was something I had to live with. If you get a solution please post it.

Re: Trim Button Sensitivity
We took delivery of our boat without having the dealer's "captain" go out with us. We waited a month or so before we went out with him.
In the meantime, I noticed the same issue. I'll press the trim up button, and nothing happens. I'll press it again, and maybe nothing happens. Then I'll press it again, and it moves from maybe 6 to 11 degrees.
The "captain" said it was nothing to worry about. We're halfway through our 5th season with no problems, but it's annoying sometimes.

My 2021 R3 is the same way. Dealer indicated that that is the way it is and just firm press. Said it would loosen up a bit with use which it has but still takes a good firm engagement to get it to move.

Re: Trim Button Sensitivity
My 2016 R3 is NOT that way, in fact, the trim button is super easy and makes almost a positive click you can feel when it engages. It is a Volvo, which are known to trim slowly.
I wonder if the new models are having issues because they switched trim switch suppliers when it went to Malbu? Same parts--higher units----lower cost.

Mine is a Volvo. I also believe it is getting harder to press, but that could be my imagination.

My 2006 Caravelle had Volvo Penta and the trim worked easily. Maybe Sailor is right.
