Engine Noise

Post by corey883 »

We took our 05 262 to the lake today after having it serviced last week. When I accelerate to 2000 - 2500 rmps, there is a high pitched noise coming from the engine compartment. After I get over 3000 rpms the noise goes away. My mechanic couldn't reproduce sound when it was in the shop but said it is possibly could be the alternator, water pump, or something else. Has anyone experienced this noise before? The mechanic is meeting me at the lake next week to take a look... Any ideas on what this noise maybe? I've uploaded a video which a .mov file... Thanks

Did the service guys dislodge or fail to put in the IAC muffler?

It’s just a tiny piece of foam that is located in the air intake just below the flame arrestor. The absence of the IAC muffler on my engine caused a whistling sound.

Yes they replaced the IAC muffler when it was serviced.. I probably should have mentioned it was making this sound before it was serviced. Thanks
