Cobalt 276 Water Temp Probe not reading correct water temp

Post by jpclick »

Does anyone know how to troubleshoot or replace the water temp probe on a Cobalt 276? Mine seems to be reading 100 degrees or so higher that normal. When I turn on the boat (cold start), it will show something like 178 degrees. Any ideas?

If it's a Volvo 5.7 it's on the thermostat housing right above the tensioner pulley. Could be a gauge problem, Id plug in with Diacom and see what the motor is actually doing.
