R4 - Drivers Swivel Chair

Post by BRDad »

Hello All,

I sed my swivel chair today and not it will no longer lock in place. I can turn it in all direction and will no lock. The lever feel like it's working normally but just can't get it to lock.

Any ideas how to fix it or maybe broken?

I don’t know if a R4 is the same as an R8. That said, on my R8 there is a knob which can tighten to increase swivel resistance, that may help. For the lack of locking, check the cable. On my R8 it looks like a bike shifter cable that is attached to the pull lever and then a metal bar that inserts into a hole in the seat post. That metal bar could be stuck or the cable may be too tight which is reducing the ability to relock the chair.

Thanks!

I actually figure out that it is NOT the swivel that broke. There is a rivet that holds the pole of the chair to the based. That rivet broke so the chair is just spinning on the pole. I was also to get a replacement riven and will put it in when I'm back at the boat next week.
