Question about old Gas in my boat

Hey guys,

Not really a specific Cobalt question here but more about what to do about an old gas situation in my CS23 w/ volvo penta engine.

Due to some circumstances, I am unable to take out boat out this season. That means it currently has 1/3 tank of 10 month old gas sitting in it, and by the time I can take it out next season, the gas will be around 19 months old.

Should I pump the gas out now, and fill it up before next season and call it good?

Leave the gas, and just mix in new gas next year, maybe with some sea foam?

Something else?

With a third of a tank only 10 months old, you're safe filling it up now...then put Stabil in it for storage. No need to pump it out.

I agree with Aslan. I'd be emptying it if it were a couple years old, but some Sta-bil and you'll be fine. The other biggie is to make sure to only ever use nonoxygenated gas (i.e. gas with no ethanol in it), as it stands up to time way better and won't absorb moisture the way gas with ethanol will.

I've let gas sit too long and had to pump it out using the gas tank access hatch under the rear bench seat in my boat. It's not rocket science, but you'll be fine.
