‘05 272 bilge float switch
My float switch isnt floating….
How do I get it off/out? Seems like the pump and float switch are mounted to a plate that sits an inch or so off the bilge floor, but I cant see any way to remove them from the plate. Any ideas?
Thx

There are Phillips screws holding the plate to the bilge. I had to use a right angle attachment on the drill and a stubby screw driver to get them out. once those are out unplug it and remove it.

The screws hold the plate to the bilge pump, or the actual bilge floor?
Where are the screws on the plate? Stern end, both sides? Only one side? Bow end too?
Just want to know where to look & feel before climbing back in the engine box.
Thx!

The screw I am referring to holds the black ABS plate to the floor of the boat. The pump and float are attached to the black ABS plate not the floor.

I got it out. Once screw into floor. One screw into transom.

Nice job! I haven’t seen many report back on how they went about removing the bilge pump assembly.
How easy was it to access and remove those two screws?

The floor screw was easy. The Transom screw required gumby body positioning and a very stubby ratchet, which still had clearance issues with the port exhaust down tube.
The float switch is totally busted. Requires effort to raise it (static water pressure would never get it done) and once up, it would never fall back down. Pump was still ok, but its going since i’m already in there.
