Re: Finally found some time to say HI!
Well there it is folks. I'm not the only one to lose a prop there. I backed down in a storm trying to get the boat on the lift before it really kicked in....was trimmed up and wave just picked me up and put me down... mashcity population me.Whippled263 wrote: Mon Nov 06, 2017 7:37 pmPittsford holler! I grew up in Greece. Keuka Lake is amazing and my favorite place on earth! We are located 2 miles north of the Switz. I am very very familiar with the launch. We call that the power station launch. I too took a prop out there launching my Powerquest there 3 years ago. The problem there is the water run off from the launch and the creek creates a underwater “island” of rocks about 20 feet or so out. Trim up at all times launching there!liquid wrote: Mon Nov 06, 2017 12:40 pmWelcome Chris... From Pittsford, NY! Spent some time on Keuka 2 summers ago. Awesome lake. Whereabouts are you located?Whippled263 wrote: Sat Nov 04, 2017 9:40 am Hi guys and gals. Lurker here for some time. Aslan reached out to me a couple weeks ago and turned me on to the site. First off this site is great and I'm excited to be part of it. Thanks Aslan. Now on to the reason we are all here! Our beloved Cobalt boat! My boating experience goes back to when I was a kid. My father always had a boat. Everything from a 19 foot Glastron/Carlson to a 32 foot 1972 wooden Trojan. I grew up in Rochester Ny boating on Lake Ontario. Fast forward to adulthood. We have a lake home on gorgeous Keuka Lake. I've owned a 1989 18 foot Larson, 1992 Century 4500, 2003 Baja 232, 2005 Powerquest 260 and now my 2005 Cobalt 263. I will admit when I sold my Powerquest I was looking to buy a Nordic Heat MCOB 28 foot or Sunsation MCOB. Cobalt was not on my radar screen. Don't get me wrong I have always admired Cobalt boats for there lines, fit and finish. I knew they were very well built boats and usually powered with a adequate power plant. I also knew they were NOT cheap $$. Gods honest truth I stumbled upon my 263. Call it divine intervention. The moment I laid eyes on this boat I knew it was the one! The owner was the type of guy you want to buy a boat from. After some long phone conversations and many pictures I decided to make the 5 hour drive to view and sea trial the boat. Boy was I glad I did. The boat blew me away. It is a 2 owner fresh water boat with just 290 hours. It has a merc 496 H.O with a dealer installed Whipple supercharger and a Bravo 3 X drive with custom S.S props. Estimated horsepower is around 625. Boost is at 5-6 pounds. The boat runs like a champ. The supercharger is intoxicating. The handling of this boats hull is like no other. Its on rails! The trailer that came with the boat is just the same. Amazing! Its a fortress. Aslan took a picture of it this summer when my wife and I were on a boat trip to Lake Erie. Its a custom built trailer by Dorsey. The boat fits on it like a glove. It really is the complete package. If anyone has any questions about the boat or the supercharger please ask.
Chris
Sidenote - my mashed prop, Keuka is the scene of the crime. Chris are you familiar with the launch by the Switz?

You got it exactly. Stayed here:Whippled263 wrote: Mon Nov 06, 2017 7:43 pm Also that is a “locals” launch. You prolly used it because your rental property was near by and they told you too. In the future use the state provided launches. You will never have a problem. That lake is SO deep right off shore that prop hitting is really never a issue any where on the lake. If your ever back to Keuka let me know. I’d love to meet you and do some cobalt showing off together.
http://www.keukalakecottage.com/photos/ awesome little place. I'm sure you know it well as you're about a half a mile up I believe. We'll definitely be going back in the future. Our place is on Canandaigua but it's so-owned so I venture off to the other finger lakes occasionally.
One of my favorites from Keuka:
