Boat Covers

Post by bfishervet »

I have a R4 surf that during the summer we leave at our lakehouse on the boat lift. We have a mooring cover that came with the boat and it is great. However, I am looking for something that is quicker to put on and off for those days that we will be out there for several days in a row. It becomes tedious to put the mooring cover on after a full day on the lake and take it off the next morning etc. I want it covered because of bugs and cleanliness but wondering if anyone has used a "quick" cover option for these situations.

Cobalt makes a snap-on cover, but I didn't like all the snaps on the boat and decided that by the time you work your way around and get them all snapped I'd rather have the mooring cover.

If you're on a lift, I wonder if something like this might be more convenient - https://touchlesscover.com/touchless-pr ... -under-28/
I've never used one, but it looks interesting for your application.

Thanks. I haven’t seen that. I’ll look into it! I had snaps on another boat and I agree it’s not any quicker.

We have a R3. We take off the mooring cover in the spring and put it away until it's time to close the boat. It's not just the time it takes, but also the cost. I don't want to wear it out. I bought a cheaper, light weight cover for under $200. If I accidently tear it, I duct tape on both sides. Then we buy a new one 3-4 years later.
