R5 Dinette Table Install Help - Need Factory Mounting Details

Post by atlandrew »

We recently found and purchased a new R5 but it didn't have the table option from the factory. It's something we've known was a must-have in our next boat so I ponied up the $ and ordered the factory table with the install hardware (ok if I'm honest, I ponied up the $$$$).

Can someone with an R5 that has the table from the factor take some measurements/photos of where the brackets are located in the cockpit and on the stern?

In the hardware box -- I have the following pieces:
- 1 pole that fits in the bottom of the table
- 2 of the stainless brackets for the table pole
- 1 thick plastic retaining plate (which matches the holes on the bracket)
- 3 angle/L brackets about 2" on each side
- 2 plastic pole guides (I assume these help stabilize the table)
- a pack of stainless screws in varying lengths

(and of course, the teak/table, cover, and teak oil to care for it)

Don't have access to my boat right now, but attached are a few pics showing location of the mounts; the ones showing the swim platform mount and with my wife behind the table is my boat, the top one I found on the internet.

The mount in the cockpit under the portside seat over the battery switch is midway between the stern lounge and the port passenger seat, but as far as height if I were you I'd just hold the table where you want it to be and mark it--I think the factory mount is a little low. Also, I'd put in that one first and then think twice about even doing the platform mount--we've never used it once, partly because the table is really big for that location. A smaller, round cocktail-type tabletop would be great, but the factory top doesn't look right. Good luck!

Thanks - those pics are helpful. I also agree on the stern mount ... we're not sure we'll use it there.

The table sure is beautiful!

It's also freakin' heavy--I guess so it stays in place, but sheesh. I stow it in the locker in front of the helm, and it's like hauling out a sack of bricks whenever I want to use it. Always afraid I'm going to drop it on my foot.

I agree. I rather just have a cheap plastic pontoon table.

Lol. I just read this to my wife. I won’t say what she called you guys but it wasn’t flattering. She hauls the table out like a champ.
You can’t use cheap plastic on a Cobalt. I did have a cheap pop up table on my old 220 though.

I'm going to be ordering the table for my R7 over winter. I have shown the wife a few of the aftermarket tables on the market. But of course she wants the OEM one. So off to the dealer I go over winter.

I can measure it this weekend. I dont think the height of the mount in the cabin would matter much.

You will want to get the height of the mount on the platform accurate as that one is also used for the filler cushion if you ever decide to order that option.
