Update:
Picked op a beautiful old Cobalt with perfect interior. Purchased from 30 year owner. Cracked starboard manifold (temporary sealed) with permatex for diagnostics. Sat for 3 years. Found a 4 “ crack on both sides of block. No visible water in oil. Plugs all looked slightly fuel fouled, 150 compression on 7 of 8 160 on 1. No clean (steamed) plugs.
Ran it on muffs for 10 minutes up to temp 3 times. No milky oil.
holds at 150 degrees at 1,000-2,000 rpm
however steamy exhaust once operating temp achieved
assuming I have an internal crack. Not surprisingly. But looking for thoughts. Not against repowering.
