surf system direction

Post by ikucera »

We bought a 2023 R8 surf this spring. Absolutely love it. However; the Garmin screens that run the surf system are less than intuitive. There are no directions in the manual, and I can't find anything online to help. I can get them to work but a few times I have lost the settings and I have been unable to re-engage the surf system without trial and error for 20 minutes. Anyone aware of a tutorial or youtube video that walks you through this system?

What kind of issues have you had?

I have spent a bunch of time customizing mine but I have never had the surf settings disappear.

My screens now have a shortcut in the corner to bring up the Surf screens.

It will bring up the surf control screen on the right screen, but it won’t let me engage the cruise control (which all the surf controls on predicated on). Honestly it’s hard to replicate not being on the water right now.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I had a similar issue with our boat.

If you go through the Garmin screens, look for settings, and find GPS Antenna. My boat had two of them listed there.

The one the boat was setup for used to take a long time to lock on the satellites. I did two things to address:
1) I upgraded the Garmin software (use a memory card)
2) I changed the antenna to be the other one which locked into the satellites much faster.

I hope that helps.
