CLR mold and mildew stain remover

Post by Mike in SC »

Has anyone here used this product?
I spend about an hour scrubbing and wiping this stuff on and off, seemed ok.
I can't say i had a real problem with either, but my wife was commenting with a rather cross look that I had applied the milder preventer (Starbrite I think) without cleaning first, and are you some sort of uh...unthinking person? LOL...
I used a scrub brush to spread it around, micro fiber towel to remove, and magic eraser for the stubborn spot or two.
What's ya'lls favorite potions to clean and defunkify your Cobalt?

You have to watch the stain remover they have bleach in them. I used McQuiers grease remove on the last boat. It did ok. I expected more. I used bio kleen every other time which worked very good. Clr maybe I would use on the stained hull or drive but that's it. Gunk engine degreaser in the bilge is the best.

I’ve used CLR Mold & Mildew Stain Remover before and it does a decent job, especially for light to moderate buildup, but like you found, it can take some elbow grease on tougher spots; your method sounds solid, though I’d just be careful with magic erasers since they can be a bit abrasive on some surfaces; for boats like a Cobalt 220, a lot of people also swear by dedicated marine cleaners like Star brite or even a diluted vinegar solution for maintenance, then following up with a protectant to slow future mildew growth.

Hopefully, you aren't using this on upholstery.
