BTW BBP, the GPS gauge was perfect today. I had on polarized glasses and had absolutely no trouble seeing the numbers.

I'm saying your going to gain the rpms and keep the 60mph. My only concern is I think you might only gain 200rpm. A 19 you might gain the 400 rpms. See what bblades says. I think I'm pretty close though.

Does dropping pitch typically reduce slip percentage too?

I'm taking the family out Friday, so that will be a good test run with a more typical trip weight. I was running light today since it was just me and no cooler or other extras. Will be interesting to see how much of a difference that makes.

Yes your rpms will drop another 100 maybe even 200 or so loaded. A 19 might be your friend. I don't think slip will change. I don't use a prop calc. I use props and see what they do. Every boat and prop is different. I'm going to text my buddy to see if he did his 19. He sold his 19. My gut is saying 21 get it and you will be happy.

Isn't it amazing how a prop can change the whole character of the boat. That's the fun part of this hobby. Congrats.

Yes your cruise speed is great !!..but on the verge of being a strain so a 21 should be perfect for your barometer and with another 400lb add weight.

In a perfect world a 22p bravo but as you like a fast cruise speed the WOT will strain everything..so the rev 4 21p I agree.

Be slick to lab that 23p to free it up but it would be $$$

Is low 30s fast for a cruise speed? What's normal?

Every combo is different..every person has a different feel for where a big block engine should be kept at steady rpm for a long period of sustained rpm.

Imagine your setting off for a 20 mile cruise that feels effortless but fast enough where your not beating her up..

Fast cruise speeds are that number. 3300-3400rpm ?? 40 plus mph.. not too shabby pal!

So Matt I'm curious? With my 502 I can drop the trim tabs and throttle back quite a bit to cruise and stay on plane. The last time we were out I had it down in the 7-8 mph range just to see if I could.

I've never done it yet but I was thinking that surfing goes on at a slow speed, so this spring I was going to drop one tab and throttle back to see it it throws a big surf wake.

The motor sounded fine and certainly didn't feel like it was lugging, but it's not like a car coming to a stop in 3rd gear either. Is this something I shouldn't do?

I agree with you Matt. I cruise around 35mph-40mph 3500 rpm-4000 rpm purrs right along. The wife and sister in law complain because it's a bit fast for site seeing. I just can't get myself to cruise at 25mph.

I've never brought mine down that far.. your a madman YT!! I like it!! Just as the surf ski set ups are.. you shouldn't have an issue.. just like anything watch your temps .

Now leaning it over to get a surfwake?? That's gonna be video worthy.

Twice this season pulling the kids in a tube I buried the tabs to drag to 20mph so the boat felt stable as ours seems to want to get rear heavy below that so your on the right track!

I'm with you.. there are time when you just want to get to the spot and listen to the upper rpms humming away!!. we love it!!

Thanks for the input all. So I'm thinking that with a 21p Rev4, I will see similar speed/RPM numbers as my Mirage, but with a much better hole shot and low-end behavior. Sound about right? I think that's what you were trying to tell me yesterday BBP, just took a little bit for me to comprehend it.
